Adaptation training in the social training occupations and the health care professions

Goal:

This project addresses people with foreign professional qualifications in social training occupations and health care professions that have been found not to be fully equivalent within the context of the recognition process.

The aim is to provide individual support and needs-based training measures to compensate for the differences and to obtain full equivalence.

Background:

The Federal Recognition Act has been in force since April 2012, and on 1 January 2014 the law on the recognition of foreign professional qualifications came into force in the State of Brandenburg. It entitles persons with vocational qualifications gained abroad, regardless of their residency status or citizenship, to a procedure that checks the equivalence of their vocational qualifications.

If there are significant differences in the social training occupations and health care professions compared with the German reference qualification, compensation measures have to be taken to obtain full recognition. This can improve the job opportunities of individuals and address the lack of skilled staff in social and care facilities.

Range of services:

The sub-project acts as a facilitator and coordinator and provides support; it works closely with the recognition bodies, local educational institutions and recognition counselling centres. The starting point here is the lack of equivalence of the qualification compared with the German reference qualification as determined by the competent authority.

The following services are available for persons in social training occupations and health care professions:

  • Explanation of the main differences listed in the assessment notice
  • Pointing out of training opportunities to compensate for the key differences when compared with the reference qualification
  • Information about the details of the compensatory measures
  • Information about funding and financing options (SGB II, SGB III and IQ resources)
  • Coaching and integrated and work-related language training
  • Finding the right training service (preparation for an knowledge test or bridge training)
  • Intensive support and assistance during the job training scheme until full equivalence has been achieved
